Scottsdale Airport (KSDL) is a Class D (tower-controlled) airport located beneath Phoenix Sky Harbor’s Class B airspace. With eight Class D airports within 35 miles of Scottsdale and many training areas to support our students’ needs, flying out of KSDL exposes our students to a rich and diverse training environment that’s perfect for career-oriented instruction. Amongst the lively city and beautiful desert landscape, students learn to communicate with air traffic control while transitioning through airspaces, with access to 100+ instrument approaches and many beautiful cross-country destinations.

In addition to being the Universal Flight Concepts and Universal Helicopters HQ, our Scottsdale location serves as our Bell Certified Training Facility. The only one in the U.S.!

The Universal Flight Concepts and Universal Helicopters training facilities are located at Scottsdale Airport (KSDL) on the Third Floor of the Air Commerce Center. We operate from the “Universal” ramp at the south end of the airport, with our own hangers and maintenance facility adjacent the ramp. To learn more about our facilities, click the link below.
